La pobreza y la desigualdad en el área urbana de Manizales

Abstract

Debido a algunas particularidades existentes en la ciudad de Manizales, en cuanto a sus características geográficas y a los cambios que se vienen planteando en los últimos anos, que afectan la distribución de la población en el espacio urbano, es necesario establecer la relación existente entre la geografía y algunas variables económicas que son determinantes, en este caso los indicadores de pobreza. Este trabajo hace uso del Censo General 2005, realizado por el Departamento Administrativo Nacional de Estadística (DANE), para calcular los principales índices de pobreza e índices demográficos como la segregación y, de esta manera, encontrar la relación existente entre ambos.
