Aportes para el diseno de esquemas de pagos por servicios ambientales en la cuenca del lago de Tota, Colombia

Abstract

Con este artículo se pretende contribuir al diagnóstico previo al diseno de un esquema de pagos por servicios ambientales (PSA), a través de la estimación de los costos de oportunidad (CO) relacionados con la decisión de renunciar a desarrollar actividades agrícolas convencionales, con el propósito de conservar o restaurar áreas páramo y zona de protección del humedal en la cuenca del lago de Tota (departamento de Boyacá, Colombia). Se identificaron las áreas y ecosistemas estratégicos de la cuenca y se realizó un análisis socioeconómico de las unidades productoras que existen en la zona, a fin de identificar los usos del suelo representativos. Posteriormente, se estimaron las funciones de producción de los principales cultivos existentes para calcular el valor presente neto del costo de oportunidad de las áreas de los predios de la cuenca para contratos de PSA a cinco y diez anos de duración. En último término, se concluye sobre las posibilidades de implementación de esquemas de tipo PSA en dicha cuenca, conforme con la literatura revisada y el análisis de resultados.
