Konvergenz von Löhnen und Preisen zwischen den mittel- und osteuropäischen Ländern sowie Österreich

Abstract

Eine Fortschreibung der bisherigen Entwicklung der relativen Lohnniveaus zwischen Österreich und den benachbarten neuen Mitgliedstaaten der EU lässt keine ausreichende Annäherung der Lohnniveaus nach Kaufkraftparitäten im jährigen Übergangszeitraum erwarten. Obwohl d i e Währungen der neuen Mitgliedstaaten im Beobachtungszeitraum real aufgewertet haben, ist nicht damit zu rechnen, dass diese Aufwertung die langsame Konvergenz gegenüber Österreich nach Kaufkraftparitäten kompensieren wird. Vielmehr ist von einer länger anhaltenden Unterbewertung der Tschechischen und der Slowakischen Krone, des Forint und des Talar auszugehen. Die Art und Geschwindigkeit der Einführung des Euro in den neuen Mitgliedstaaten wird dabei eine bedeutende Rolle spielen. Die regionale Divergenz der Lohnniveaus in den Nachbarstaaten mildert die Lohnunterschiede zwischen den Grenzregionen kaum, da diese mit Ausnahme von Bratislava eher unter dem jeweiligen Landesdurchschnitt liegen.
