Europejskie systemy gospodarcze: dobrobyt a efektywność

Abstract

W literaturze ekonomicznej dość powszechnie przyjmuje się hipotezę, że państwa dobrobytu - w odróżnieniu od pozostałych krajów, a zwłaszcza państw o gospodarce liberalnej - urzeczywistniając przyjętą misję gospodarowania mającą na celu pomniejszanie nierówności społecznych i pomnażanie dobrobytu ekonomicznego obywateli, w dużym stopniu i zakresie ingerują w życie gospodarcze poprzez nadmierny fiskalizm, rozumiany w uproszczeniu jako relatywnie wysokie wydatki sektora publicznego i progresywne podatki, czego skutkiem może być spowolnienie procesów ekonomicznych i niska efektywność gospodarowania. Zasadniczym celem poznawczym artykułu jest empiryczna weryfikacja tej hipotezy, a więc wykazanie, który z wyróżnionych tutaj modeli społeczno-ekonomicznych jest bardziej efektywny ekonomicznie i który z nich najpełniej realizuje przyjęte przez dane społeczeństwo idee i wzorce rozwoju społeczno-gospodarczego, ale także zapewnia - per saldo - wyższą trajektorię wzrostu gospodarczego.
