Indeks optymalnego obszaru walutowego dla gospodarki polskiej

Abstract

W niniejszym artykule, w związku z dyskusją na temat zasadności wstępowania do strefy euro oraz kosztów i korzyści przyjęcia wspólnej waluty, przy wykorzystaniu indeksu optymalnego obszaru walutowego oszacowano, w jakim stopniu akcesja Polski do strefy euro jest korzystna z punktu widzenia teorii optymalnych obszarów walutowych. W pierwszej części artykułu omówiono tematykę optymalnych obszarów walutowych począwszy od przedstawienia definicji obszaru walutowego, poprzez przegląd głównych nurtów i odmian teorii OOW. Następnie scharakteryzowano oraz poddano analizie empirycznej indeks optymalnego obszaru walutowego dla gospodarki polskiej oraz pozostałych krajów Unii Gospodarczej i Walutowej z derogacją, a także Danii i Wielkiej Brytanii.
