Einige Beobachtungen zum Pendlerverhalten in Deutschland

Pendeln ist zur Überwindung der räumlichen Distanz zwischen Wohn- und Arbeitsort notwendig. Eine Reihe von individuellen Wahlentscheidungen beeinflusst das Ausmaß des Pendelns. Diese Entscheidungen werden wiederum von einer Vielzahl von Faktoren determiniert. Gleichzeitig gehen mit dem Pendeln Effekte im Verkehrs-, Arbeitsmarkt- und Umweltbereich einher. Dieser Beitrag liefert einen kurzen Überblick über die wichtigsten Bestimmungsfaktoren des Pendelverhaltens sowie dessen Auswirkungen und leitet daraus einige wirtschaftspolitische Schlussfolgerungen ab.
