Champions des Sports 2008: Ein empirischer Vergleich deutscher Sportstädte

Abstract

Sport ist in den letzten Jahren immer mehr zu einem wichtigen Image-, Standort- und Wirtschaftsfaktor für Städte und Regionen geworden. Sportevents wie Welt- und Europameisterschaften, Weltcupveranstaltungen und auch lokale Ereignisse haben für Städte mittlerweile eine große regionalwirtschaftliche Bedeutung erlangt. In vielen Städten werden Konzepte und Strategien entwickelt, um sich als Sportstadt zu positionieren und zu vermarkten. In den letzten Jahren haben viele Städte um den Status als Sporthauptstadt Deutschlands konkurriert. Das HWWI hat im letzten Jahr erstmals eine systematische Analyse vorgenommen und ein Sportstädteranking für die fünfzehn größten deutschen Städte erstellt. München ging daraus als Champion des Sports 2007 hervor. In der vorliegenden Neuauflage des HWWI-Sportstädterankings wird anhand aktueller Daten und Entwicklungen sowie einiger zusätzlicher Indikatoren die Sporthauptstadt 2008 ermittelt.
