Abstract

Without shifting from conventional to regenerative agriculture, climate change effects are projected to worsen food security by degrading the environment and limiting agricultural development. While regenerative agriculture has become a cornerstone for reconciling environmental protection and agricultural production, regenerative agricultural practices can integrate soil health and biodiversity to improve food security outcomes. This manuscript uses the Life in Transition Survey-2016 to empirically analyse the relationships between regenerative agricultural practices (crop residue, manure application, mixed crop, zero/reduced tillage, and agroforestry) and food security outcomes. By clustering the sample into “High Regenerative Agriculture” and “Low Regenerative Agriculture”, the findings confirm that households adopting high regenerative practices are likely to improve food security outcomes reflected in dietary diversity and food expenditure.
