Abstract

"Unemployment figures are a very sensitive performance indicator of national employment policies. Changes in their counting mode evoke publicly a lot of suspicion as these changes are often considered as mere 'statistical tricks' to palliate unemployment figures. This report describes the changes in the German unemployment records since 2002 against the background of international developments." (Author's abstract, IAB-Doku) ((en))
