Decisiones de fecundidad y de participación en el mercado de trabajo de la mujer en España

Abstract

En este trabajo analizamos de un modo conjunto las decisiones de fecundidad y de participación en el mercado de trabajo por parte de las mujeres espaiiolas. Para ello, planteamos la estimación econometrica de un modelo de regresiones alternantes en el que la variable de selección, la participación, es considerada como endogena. En base a los resultados, rechazamos la hipotésis de exogeneidad de la decisión de participación frente a la decisión de fecundidad de las mujeres participantes. Encontramos evidencia de que el efecto de las variables explicativas incluidas en el anaIisis sobre la decision de fecundidad de una mujer, depende de su situación respecto al mercado de trabajo asi como del número de hijos que ya tiene.
