Corporate Social Responsibility in der deutschen Landwirtschaft - Verbreitung, Ausgestaltung, Motive

Abstract

Um der zunehmend größer werdenden Diskrepanz zwischen landwirtschaftlicher Praxis und den Erwartungen der Gesellschaft zu begegnen, um zukünftige Risiken abzufedern und um den betrieblichen Wandel eigenbestimmt zu steuern, sind die Landwirte zukünftig in verstärktem Umfang gefordert, sich selber proaktiv mit den Forderungen der Gesellschaft auseinanderzusetzen und eigene Leistungen zu kommunizieren. Eine Möglichkeit, proaktiv den Herausforderungen zu begegnen, ist die bewusste Übernahme gesellschaftlicher Verantwortung. Dieser Ansatz hat sich in der Managementliteratur unter dem Begriff „Corporate Social Responsibility“ (CSR) etabliert. Dieser Beitrag betrachtet anhand von Ergebnissen einer Befragung unter Landwirten die Verbreitung von CSR-Maßnahmen in der deutschen Landwirtschaft. Unsere explorative Untersuchung zeigt, dass in der landwirtschaftlichen Produktion freiwillige gesellschaftliche Leistungen erbracht werden, wobei der - anhand der Maßnahmenvielfalt gemessene - Umfang dieser Leistungen zwischen den Betrieben und zwischen den abgefragten Handlungsfeldern variiert. In allen abgefragten Handlungsbereichen gibt eine deutliche Mehrheit der befragten Unternehmensvertreter an, dass ihre Unternehmen CSR-Maßnahmen erbringen. Viele Betriebe engagieren sich insbesondere auf lokaler bzw. regionaler Ebene, die Bewohner in der unmittelbaren Nachbarschaft, den umliegenden Gemeinden und der Region werden als wichtigste Adressaten angesehen. Die Untersuchungsergebnisse verweisen zudem darauf, dass CSR-Engagement landwirtschaftlicher Unternehmen mit bestimmten strukturellen Bedingungen der Betriebe und Einstellungen der Betriebsleiter variiert. Ebenfalls wurde deutlich, dass nach Einschätzung der Befragten in vielen Bereichen der freiwillige Mehraufwand zur Erbringung dieser Leistungen häufig nicht bzw. nur zum Teil vom Markt bzw. der Gesellschaft vergütet wird.
