Abstract

International Organization for Standardization (ISO) has created ISO 9001, which is an international quality management standard that companies can use to demonstrate their ability to meet their customers' requirements. There is little research available in literature analysing the impact of implementing quality objectives on performance in ISO 9001 certified organisations. Objectives are one of the essential requirements of ISO 9001. This research determines whether the implementation of quality objectives positively impacts the on-time delivery of ISO 9001 certified organisations, which consists of both, delivery to customers and from suppliers. Organisations invest considerable amount of resources to implement quality management systems. Understanding the impact of implementation will help establish value-added quality objectives optimising the return on investment by ISO 9001 certification. Regression analyses were utilised to analyse data from aerospace organisations to determine the effect of implementing quality objectives of on-time delivery in ISO 9001 certified organisations.
