Fintech adoption and organizational culture: Pathways to supply chain resilience

Abstract

The present study explains the augmenting role of organizational culture in fostering and enabling the adoption of Fintech to enhance supply chain resilience. The study postulates a theoretical model based on organizational information processing theory, which posits that as supply chain uncertainty rises, so does the need for the amount of information that must be shared between actors in the chain to combat disruptions with fintech-enabled technological advances. The study examines the role of organizational culture -supported fintech adoption in enhancing supply chain resilience through nourishing swift trust and strengthening collaboration among (internal and external) supply chain partners using survey from 210 supply chain managers. The two mediating mechanisms augment communication, coordination, adaptability, and organizational values, cementing supply chain resilience. Our empirical model shows a relationship-based approach to building supply chain (SC) resilience for sustainability that goes beyond a process-based approach. It shows how vital an enabling organizational culture is for supply chain managers to institute Fintech and successfully build supply chain resilience. Finally, this study utilised the lens of organizational information processing theory, which provides a robust lens to understand how organizations manage uncertainty and complexity in supply chains through effective information processing mechanisms. This study enriches the literature by demonstrating how culturally grounded swift trust and digital technologies enhance the information processing capacity of firms, enabling them to better align and adapt in dynamic supply chain environments. Under the application of organizational information processing theory, practically, firms can leverage this insight by implementing structured communication systems, real-time data-sharing platforms, and culturally sensitive collaboration protocols that reduce information equivocality and foster trust-based coordination. To operationalize these insights, managers should focus on developing joint decision-making processes, cross-functional integration routines, and digital governance structures that support timely and accurate information flows.
