Abstract

This study selects data from Chinese prefecture-level cities spanning 2009 to 2023 as its sample, aiming to examine the effects of cross-border e-commerce demonstration zone development(CBEC) and agricultural insurance investment on the upgrading of the agricultural industrial chain. Empirical results reveal that CBEC has a significant positive impact on the upgrading of the agricultural industrial chain. Meanwhile, agricultural insurance investment also effectively promotes the advancement of the agricultural industrial chain. The analysis of moderating effects indicates that CBEC plays a significant moderating role in the relationship between agricultural insurance investment and the upgrading of the agricultural industrial chain, and this moderating effect exhibits marked heterogeneity across regions with different levels of green total factor productivity in agriculture.
