Abstract

In an era of escalating global trade uncertainties, understanding how trade liberalization policies shape corporate risk awareness is crucial. This study uses data from Chinese listed nonfinancial firms (2012–2023) to examine how cross-border e-commerce reform (CBEC) affects corporate supply chain risk perception. Results show that CBEC significantly increases firm awareness of supply chain risks. Heterogeneity analysis indicates that this effect is stronger among firms in highly marketized regions, competitive industries, and those with high financial leverage. Mechanism tests further reveal that CBEC enhances firm risk perception by fostering digital transformation and improving supply chain operational efficiency.
