Jamming transition in hybrid lattice model integrating self-stabilization control under heterogeneous vehicles scenario

Abstract

Due to the complex and open nature of the transportation system, it is highly susceptible to instability, especially in mixed situations with heterogeneous vehicles. Additionally, with the development of connected technology, connected autonomous vehicles (CAVs) will also occur on the road. Obviously, this will be much more complex than the traditional situation of human-driving vehicles (HDVs). Therefore, regarding this phenomenon, a new hybrid lattice model is created by applying self-stabilization control strategies to improve behaviors of heterogeneous vehicles. Moreover, the self-stabilization control has a significant promoting effect on the linear stability and mKdV equation through theory analysis. Additionally, the impact of self-stabilization control on evolution process concerning density and limit loop has been investigated via simulation on the heterogeneous vehicles scenario, which demonstrates that self-stabilization control can effectively strengthen the stability of heterogeneous vehicles.
