Competitividad De Las Empresas Industriales De Cartagena De Indias. Un Análisis De Recursos Y Capacidades

Abstract

En el actual contexto económico caracterizado por los fuertes cambios económicos, tecnológicos y socialesgenerados por la globalización, sólo logran sobrevivir las empresas capaces de consolidar ventajasexcepcionales tanto comparativas como competitivas. Ante esta situación, resalta la necesidad de fortaleceren mayor medida el subsector de la Pymes, y afianzar su posición competitiva.Teniendo en cuenta lo anterior, el objetivo de esta investigación fue evaluar las capacidades competitivasdel sector Industrial de Cartagena de Indias y determinar si existían diferencias sustanciales entre lasempresas de diferentes tamanos y de diferentes subsectores industriales en la ciudad de Cartagena encuanto a la dotación de recursos, las capacidades con que contaban y las estrategias empleadas en suoperación. El marco teórico y conceptual que sustentó esta investigación fue la Teoría de Recursos yCapacidades, y por otro lado la Teoría de las Configuraciones Organizativas.Para lograr el cumplimiento del objetivo de este estudio se realizó una encuesta dirigida a una muestra de100 empresas entre pequenas, medianas y grandes. Una vez aplicada y tabulada la encuesta se realizó unaevaluación de la competitividad de las empresas del sector en términos generales siguiendo la teoría de losrecursos y capacidades y la teoría de las configuraciones organizativas. Por último, se hizo uso de latécnica estadística de la prueba de diferencia de medias para tratar de determinar si existían diferenciassignificativas en los resultados obtenidos para las diferentes empresas de acuerdo a su tamano y alsubsector industrial al que pertenecían.
