The (Super)Efficiency of Economics Faculties

Abstract

This article investigates the (super)efficiency of 188 economics faculties based on RePEc data. The number of staff measured as full-time equivalents working at a faculty serves as an input. The output consists of two main components that condense information from 30 bibliometric rankings. It emerges that several super-efficient faculties exist that are significantly more productive than their competitors. No German-speaking faculties are included in this latter group.
