Abstract

The significant increase in natural gas prices as a result of the conflict in Ukraine has deeply affected energy supplies and prices in European markets, including the electricity market. This context led to discussions within the European Commission regarding the need to reform electricity markets. This research aims to analyze the electricity price situation from the perspective of causes, effects and measures proposed by the European Commission. At the same time, it aims to develop a forecasting model for the volatile electricity market for Romania, highlighting the influence of factors such as geopolitical crises and government decisions. This information is crucial for energy decision-making and for developing effective strategies to manage risk and volatility.
