Das Elend des Kompetenzbegriffs: Kompetenzkonstrukte in der aktuellen Unternehmenstheorie

Abstract

Definitionen und Operationalisierungen des Kompetenzkonstrukts sind bislang diffus oder tendieren ins Tautologische, verdoppeln Funktionen in Kompetenzbegriffen (Personalselektion = Selektionsvermögen; Personalführung = Führungskompetenz, etc.). Bislang findet man eher Konsens im Beklagen eines Mangels an nachvollziehbaren und operationalen oder überhaupt expliziten Definitionen von Unternehmenskompetenz; man findet eher Zustimmung zur Diagnose uneinheitlicher Bestimmungen als klare Übersichten über Kompetenzkonstrukte der einzelnen Forschergruppen. Mein Beitrag zeichnet daher semantische Landkarten des Kompetenzbegriffs, anhand derer sich die inhaltlichen Bestimmungen, theoretische Verortungen und die Operationalisierungen verschiedener Ansätze vergleichen lassen. Dem liegt die Annahme zugrunde, daß es einer Forschungsrichtung nicht schaden kann, sich gelegentlich mit ihrem Zentralbegriff zu befassen. Da das Ergebnis der auf dieser Basis vorgenommenen Analyse einiger Operationalisierungen als deprimierend empfunden werden könnte, schließt der Beitrag mit einer kurzen Skizze möglicher Alternativen.
