Trotz Sondervermögen: Deutschlands Bevölkerung wünscht massive Erhöhung öffentlicher Investitionen - Erkenntnisse aus einer Online-Befragung

Abstract

Öffentliche Investitionen und ihre Finanzierung stehen seit Jahren im Mittelpunkt wirtschaftspolitischer Debatten in Deutschland. Anhand einer aktuellen Online-Umfrage wird in diesem Policy Brief gezeigt, dass sich die große Mehrheit der Bevölkerung mehr Investitionen in allen zentralen Bereichen der öffentlichen Infrastruktur wünscht. Gegenüber den Ergebnissen einer vergleichbaren Umfrage unmittelbar nach der Bundestagswahl 2021 zeigt sich zudem, dass der Wunsch nach zusätzlichen Investitionen in vielen Bereichen sogar zugenommen hat. Lediglich beim Klima- und Umweltschutz sowie beim Mobilnetz und Internet ist der Anteil der Menschen, die sich für Mehrinvestitionen aussprechen, seit 2021 zurückgegangen. Hinsichtlich der Finanzierung zeigen die Ergebnisse, dass eine Kreditaufnahme für zusätzliche Investitionen in der Bevölkerung mehrheitlich akzeptiert wird. Diese Position findet bei den Anhängerschaften aller Parteien sogar eine absolute Mehrheit - mit Ausnahme der AfD, bei deren Anhängerschaft aber immer noch eine relative Mehrheit einer Kreditaufnahme grundsätzlich zustimmt. Darüber hinaus besteht bei vielen Menschen allerdings der Wunsch, primär durch Umschichtungen in den öffentlichen Haushalten finanzielle Spielräume für zusätzliche Investitionen zu schaffen.
