Abstract

There is a large literature on irrigated systems, but few studies explicitly and concomitantly address the issue of the relationships between access to land and access to water. This programmatic paper brings to the fore elements to grasp these relationships developing countries. It first presents a conceptual framework, then mobilized to explore the convergences and divergences regarding the access to water and land. Thirdly, the paper considers the interdependencies between accessing water and land, by identifying the situations in which access to one of the resources conditions access to the other.
