Abstract

This article sets out to study the reality of inter-firm cooperation by examining its very core - verbal interaction between employees operating within heterogenous working groups, as part of partnerships between furniture manufacturers and transport providers in France. By analysing a conversation between employees, the communicational approach we propose will enable us to examine the dynamics of the construction of a true collective skill and to propose concrete tools for its management. This approach, by providing a relevant framework for the understanding of the construction of interfirm working practices as well as collective dynamics, provides promising managerial implications in terms of the constitution and working practices of these inter-organizational groups, composed of heterogeneous elements.
