Economic Resilience of Migrants’ Transit Routes: Evidence from Venezuela’s Refugee Shock

Abstract

El estudio analiza si las rutas de tránsito migratorio generaron resiliencia económica durante la crisis venezolana. Mediante diferencias en diferencias y estudios de evento, compara municipios fronterizos con otras zonas usando luces nocturnas y datos de emigración. Aunque las áreas de tránsito sufrieron mayor contracción, desde 2018 mostraron mayor actividad económica y menor salida de residentes, impulsadas por la demanda de transporte, comercio y servicios creada por los migrantes.
