Abstract

“El análisis de los efectos de las variables macroeconómicas y de las medidas de liberación económica sobre la pobreza y la distribución del ingreso han estado en el centro del debate económico latinoamericano en los últimos anos. Este trabajo analiza los efectos del comportamiento macroeconómico y las reformas estructurales sobre la pobreza y la distribución del ingreso en Colombia. Está basado en un procesamiento uniforme y consistente de las encuestas de hogares disponibles para las dos últimas décadas. Usa también en forma extensa el trabajo paralelo de otros autores. Se divide en seis secciones, la primera es la introducción. La segunda hace un bosquejo de la evolución general de la economía y de las reformas estructurales en las dos últimas décadas. La tercera presenta unas breves consideraciones sobre la evolución de las condiciones de vida de la población y de la política social. La cuarta hace un análisis detallado de la evolución de los indicadores globales de pobreza y distribución del ingreso y su relación con las tendencias globales de la economía. La quinta presenta unos ejercicios formales sobre los determinantes macroeconómicos de la pobreza y la distribución del ingreso. El trabajo termina con una breve sección de conclusiones.”
