La Participación Laboral de las Mujeres no Jefes de Hogar en Colombia y el Efecto del Servicio Doméstico

Abstract

La oferta laboral de las mujeres no jefes de hogar está principalmente asociada a la decisión de participar en el mercado laboral. El caso específico de las mujeres es un tema muy importante en el campo de la economía laboral sobre todo porque su participación en las últimas décadas se ha incrementado de manera importante y este comportamiento no solo se ha dado en el caso colombiano, sino también en las economías más desarrolladas. Un factor importante para las economías en vía de desarrollo, y que se puede asociar al aumento de la participación de las mujeres no jefes de hogar es la existencia del servicio doméstico en el hogar, ya que en economías como la colombiana la tendencia de este tipo de servicio es abundante y no es costoso si se compara con otras economías. Este trabajo se centra en un modelo de participación laboral para el caso específico de las mujeres no jefe de hogar, desde 1984: I hasta 2002: II, con base en la ENH y la ECH del DANE. Los resultados de los ejercicios econométricos muestran que los principales determinantes de efecto positivo son la educación, la edad, la tasa de desempleo y existencia de servicio doméstico en el hogar; los principales determinantes de efecto negativo son la riqueza y la existencia de niños en edades menores. Según el modelo la TGP cae ante disminuciones en la tasa de desempleo y cambios en los programas educativos.
