Integración regional e inversión extranjera directa: El caso del MERCOSUR

Abstract

Este trabajo se concentra en dos grandes cuestiones en lo que hace a los ingresos de IED al MERCOSUR: (i) ¿cuáles fueron los determinantes de dichos ingresos?, y (ii) ¿cuáles son las relaciones entre IED y comercio exterior en los países receptores? Se investiga especialmente sobre el rol específico del MERCOSUR en la atracción de flujos de IED; trabajando con distintos niveles de análisis (tanto a nivel de firmas como de sectores), utilizando no sólo datos para cada país sino también paneles conjuntos plurinacionales, y abarcando un período más largo, que incluye el año 2000, lo cual permite, además, evaluar el impacto de la devaluación del real ocurrida en 1999. Finalmente, se discute una tercera cuestión vinculada con un fenómeno menos notorio que el masivo ingreso de IED al MERCOSUR, pero particularmente relevante desde el punto de vista de los procesos de desarrollo de los países de la región, referida a la tendencia creciente observada en la emisión de flujos de IED por parte de Argentina y Brasil.Este trabajo se concentra en dos grandes cuestiones en lo que hace a los ingresos de IED al MERCOSUR: (i) ¿cuáles fueron los determinantes de dichos ingresos?, y (ii) ¿cuáles son las relaciones entre IED y comercio exterior en los países receptores?
