Abstract

“Dimensiones del Agronegocio Brasileño” es un libro que retrata el éxito, los desafíos y las oportunidades del sector agrícola en Brasil. Esta obra es fruto de la cooperación fructífera entre el Instituto de Pesquisa Econômica Aplicada (Ipea) y la Comisión Económica para América Latina y el Caribe (CEPAL), bajo el Programa Ejecutivo de Cooperación CEPAL-Ipea. Este libro cuenta con la participación de 14 investigadores de diversas áreas de estudio. Estos expertos plasmaron los resultados de sus investigaciones en 12 capítulos, abordando temas cruciales como producción, productividad, comercio internacional, políticas públicas, indicadores de sustentabilidad, precios internacionales y balanza comercial. Los estudios fueron seleccionados de manera cuidadosa y precisa con el objetivo de retratar uno de los casos de éxito de la historia económica mundial reciente: el sector agrícola brasileño. Los estudios contenidos en esta obra están organizados en tres partes. La primera sección, “Producción y Productividad”, ofrece un análisis detallado de los factores que han contribuido al desarrollo y crecimiento del sector agropecuario en Brasil. La segunda parte, denominada “Precios y Comercio Internacional”, nos presenta un panorama general de la dinámica de los precios internacionales, las tasas de cambio y el comercio internacional. Por último, en la tercera sección, titulada “Políticas y Perspectivas Regionales”, se enfatiza la importancia de la implementación de políticas públicas de crédito y titulación de tierras para el sector, así como presentan diversos indicadores de sostenibilidad ambiental. Los estudios aquí presentados contribuyen sustancialmente para el entendimiento y comprensión de la trayectoria del sector agrícola brasileño a lo largo de las últimas décadas, al mismo tiempo que proporcionan, mediante sus resultados, insights valiosos que subsidiarán las evaluaciones y mejoras de políticas públicas.
