Abstract

In sub‐Saharan Africa (SSA), farmer networks disseminate agricultural information, but challenges exist in information quality, reliability and integration with extension services. This paper reviews 84 studies from 2000 to 2023 using PRISMA guidelines. The main results are that farmer networks disseminate crucial agricultural information, which drives farm improvements like improved seed varieties, climate‐smart practices and soil conservation. Networks also influence behaviour towards technology use for agricultural information, drive participation in agricultural insurance schemes and change risk attitudes. Empowerment through networks increases knowledge sharing, better marketing strategies and improved dietary diversity. Findings support policies to strengthen networks and integrate with extension services.
