Abstract

Based on a survey of venture capital firms and secondary data on the venture capital industry, this article examines agribusiness' competitiveness for venture capital, giving practical suggestions for agribusiness firms to increase their competitiveness for venture capital funds. The availability of venture capital to midwestern agribusiness firms and venture capital firms' perceptions of agribusiness relative to other business opportunities are examined. Finally, this article suggests strategies to be used in contacting venture capital firms.
