Factors influencing lean-sustainable maintenance using TISM approach

Abstract

Lean-sustainable maintenance requires knowledge, estimation and evaluation of lean and sustainability factors in a maintenance. While there may be many ways of adopting maintenance management systems, it is necessary to determine factors that influence lean-sustainable maintenance management before implementing it. The purpose of this paper is to identify and analyse factors influencing lean-sustainable maintenance management through literature review and expert opinion. The interrelationships among these factors are analysed using total interpretive structural modelling approach. The results found that top-management commitment in adopting integrated lean-sustainable maintenance, sustainable spare parts management, maintenance for energy efficiency are driving factors. This study will help the maintenance managers to focus on factors that would be of significant importance to their lean-sustainable maintenance implementation in the organisation.
