Factores que inciden en el uso de transporte sustentable en Ecuador

Abstract

La presente investigación analiza los determinantes del uso del transporte sustentable en el Ecuador en el año 2017. La metodología consiste en un modelo logit multinomial a una muestra de 24.606 individuos. Como variable dependiente se establece el modo de transporte, mientras que como variables independientes se utiliza variables que caracterizan socioeconómicamente al individuo como: edad, género, ingreso, nivel de instrucción, área y estado civil; y, variables que caracterizan el modo de transporte como: razón del uso de medio de transporte. Los resultados obtenidos permiten concluir que los principales factores para que un individuo utilice un medio movilidad sustentable son el área, sexo, jefatura del hogar, y, las razones de movilidad como la necesidad de trasladarse, seguridad, preocupación por el medio ambiente, salud, ahorro y cercanía. Nuestros hallazgos permiten evidenciar la necesidad de asegurar la accesibilidad a la movilidad urbana a un precio razonable y de calidad que reduzcan los tiempos de viaje y garanticen la comodidad con el objetivo de evitar el uso de los vehículos particulares.
