Abstract

[fre] Qualité des biens, croissance et cycle du produit dans un modèle à générations imbriquées. . L'article présente un modèle de croissance endogène, dans le cadre d'un modèle à générations imbriquées. La croissance vient de l'activité de recherche des firmes, activité qui leur permet en cas de succès de disposer d'une rente de monopole. Dans chaque secteur, l'arrivée d'une innovation et aléatoire, mais au niveau agrégé, ce processus conduit à une croissance régulière de la qualité des biens. La dynamique du modèle est d'abord étudiée en économie fermée. Puis nous pro­posons une extension en économie ouverte du modèle de base afin de modéliser l'idée de cycle du produit développée par R. Vemon. Dans une telle structure des échanges internationaux, nous montrons que des paramètres tels que la taille des populations, ou les taux de préférence pour le présent, influencent de façon déterminante le taux de croissance des économies. We present in this article an endogenous growth model, in the framework of an overlapping generations model. Growth is the resuit of product improvements, which corne from research activity. In each sector, the arrivai of an innovation is a risky event, but this process leads to a smooth growth at the aggregate level. We determine the dynamics of our model and show that two economies which only differ by their population size can have different dynamics. Then, we apply the basic model to open economics, and we modelize Vernon's idea about product life cycle. We show that for such a structure of international trade, parameters as the population sizes or the discount rates influence crucialy the growth rate of the economies.
