Abstract

[fre] Les secteurs des semences et des pesticides ont connu d'importantes restructurations depuis le début des années 1990. Cet article montre que le développement des biotechnologies a eu une influence majeure sur cette évolution et peut soulever des questions de concurrence nouvelles pour ces industries. Ainsi, aux problèmes classiques de concentration excessive sur certains segments de marché, viennent s'ajouter des problèmes liés à l'exploitation de la propriété intellectuelle et à l'évolution des pratiques commerciales. [eng] Competition problems in the seed and pesticide industries - The seed and pesticide sectors experienced major structural changes since the beginning of the 90's. This article shows that this evolution is determined, to a large extent by the development of the biotechnology, and that consequently several new competition problems emerged for these sectors. More exactly, competition problems covers both the usual problem of the excessive concentration level, and other problems linked to the exploitation of intellectual property rights and the evolution of business practices.
