Les multinationales et l'innovation Localisation des activités technologiques de l'agro-alimentaire

Abstract

[fre] Cette étude analyse l'emplacement géographique des filiales technologiques et leur importance relative dans la structure de la grande firme agro-industrielle multinationale. Il s'agit de laboratoires ayant le statut de filiales indépendantes qui jouent un rôle significatif dans la coordination des activités de Recherche-Développement de la firme et le développement de technologies génériques susceptibles d'utilisation par plusieurs métiers. L'étude analyse également les échanges technologiques entre ces grandes firmes et leur filière. On se penche aussi sur le processus d'internationalisation de R-D dans les IAA. Les différents pays d'Europe, et surtout la France, en bénéficient et deviennent des centres d'accueil mondiaux, notamment en ce qui concerne la R-D des protéines, la biotechnologie et l'ingenierie. En revanche, exception faite des multinationales britanniques, ces laboratoires sont moins importants dans la structure de la firme européenne qu'ils ne le sont dans la multinationale japonaise. [eng] This study analyzes the geographicalm location of specialized tehcnological affiliates and their relative importance in the structure of large agro-industrial multinationals. These laboratories have an independent status within the firm; they play a significant role in the coordination of the firm R-D activities and in the development of generic technology which may be used in various trades. The study also analyzes the technological exchanges taking place between these large firmes and their « filière ». Attention is also devoted to the internationalization of R-D in agro-industries. Europe, and especially France, has benefited from this process. These countries are becoming hosts to international laboratories working in fields such as R-D in protein, biotechnology and engineering. By contrast, with the exception ofbritish multinationals, these types of laboratories are relativeley less important in the structure of Japanese multinationals.
