Abstract

This paper examines the causal relationship between energy use,GDPand CO2 emissions of Pakistan during the period of 1985-2013 employing the time series data.Based on the unit root test, the variables are stationary at first differentiated. The cointegration results show that energy use and CO2 emissions has a long run relationship with GDP. Moreover there exists bidirectional causality between energy use,GDP and CO2emissions inshort run. Thus the results clearly show that use of energy plays an important role in GDP of the Pakistan.
