Resampling non-homogeneous spatial data with smoothly varying mean values

Abstract

It is shown that a resampling method based on cross differences provides a valid approximation to the distributions of the sample means of random variables observed on a spatial grid. The random variables are allowed to have different distributions with smoothly varying expected values between neighbouring grid points.
