Solar radiation data: Validation and quality control

Author

Listed:
  • Hay, John E.

Abstract

Validation and quality control of radiation data are as important as the measurement procedures themselves, since only after steps have been taken to ensure the accuracy and completeness of the data can the usefulness of the data be assured. Various approaches to verifying the quality of measured solar radiation data can be identified. The recommended procedures and examples for each are presented. It is recommeded that any monitoring programme includes built in redundacies (duplication, alternative approaches) to ensure that the quality (accuracy, completeness, etc.) of the data archieve can be assured.
