Long-term economic growth: Leveraging natural resources for sustainable economic growth and energy transition

Abstract

This study investigates the nexus between long-term economic growth, natural resource utilization, and energy transition in China from 2010 to 2022, employing the Generalized Method of Moments (GMM) model. It aims to assess how leveraging natural resources can sustain economic growth while facilitating a transition to renewable energy sources. By analyzing empirical data within the specified timeframe, the research highlights the interplay between resource management policies, economic growth patterns, and energy transition dynamics. Results indicate that strategic utilization of natural resources can indeed foster sustainable economic growth and expedite the transition towards renewable energy. The policy implication underscores the importance of integrated resource management strategies to ensure sustainable economic development and facilitate the transition to cleaner energy sources, thereby promoting long-term environmental and economic resilience.
