Supply chain innovation as a value driver: The perspective of energy efficiency

Abstract

Using a large sample of Chinese cities, this study examines how supply chain innovation affects energy efficiency. Baseline results show that supply chain innovation significantly improves energy efficiency. Channel analyses reveal that this effect operates through enhanced green innovation and growth in artificial intelligence firms. Cross-sectional results further indicate that the positive impact is stronger in non-resource-based cities, cities outside the Yangtze River Economic Belt, and those participating in the Broadband China pilot.
