Abstract

Based on China's provincial panel data from 2010 to 2023, this paper explores the impact of cross-border e-commerce on service trade, as well as the moderating role of financial development and the mediating role of human capital. The study finds that cross-border e-commerce significantly promotes the growth of service trade, becoming an important driving force for its expansion in China. Financial development plays a significant positive moderating role in the relationship between cross-border e-commerce and service trade; the higher the level of financial development, the stronger the promotional effect of cross-border e-commerce on service trade. Additionally, the development of cross-border e-commerce promotes the accumulation of human capital, and high-quality talent, in turn, drives the development of service trade.
