Cross-border e-commerce development, green finance, and rural revitalization

Abstract

This study employs panel data from 31 provincial entities in China (2009–2023) to investigate the effects of cross-border e-commerce (CBE) development and green finance on rural revitalization. The results reveal that CBE has a statistically significant positive association with rural revitalization, and green finance initiatives have a robust and positive correlation with rural revitalization. Furthermore, green finance significantly moderates the relationship between CBE development and rural revitalization, and the impact of CBE development on rural revitalization exhibits heterogeneity across regions with different population densities. The impact of green finance on rural revitalization exhibits heterogeneity across regions with varying levels of factor market development. This paper reveals the crucial role and heterogeneity of CBE and green finance in rural revitalization, providing key scientific basis for policy-making and regional development.
