Abstract

Based on panel data from 30 provinces in China from 2013 to 2023, this paper systematically explores the impact mechanism of ESG performance on the ecologicalization of the industrial structure. The research indicates that: ESG performance has a significant positive promoting effect on the ecologicalization of the industrial structure; capital introduction plays a partial mediating role in the process of ESG promoting the ecologicalization of the industrial structure, and capital channels such as green bonds effectively guide resource allocation towards sustainable development fields; regional heterogeneity analysis shows that in the eastern region, ESG performance is more of a reflection of transformation outcomes. The central region faces phased challenges due to its heavy industry stock, while in the western region, the implementation of ESG has a more significant reversal effect on the industrial structure.
