Efecto Harberger-Laursen-Metzler. Evidencia para Argentina (1986-2014)

Abstract

Este trabajo analiza el vínculo entre la cuenta corriente y los términos del intercambio, en el caso de la economía argentina. Se emplean modelos de SVAR, con restricciones de largo plazo, y datos anuales que cubren el período 1986-2014. Las funciones de respuesta sugieren una reacción positiva de la cuenta corriente ante choques en los términos del intercambio (corto plazo), avalando la existencia del efecto Harberger-Laursen-Metzler (HLM), mientras que el análisis de varianza muestra que los términos del intercambio explican alrededor de un 18% de la varianza de la cuenta corriente, resultado similar al de otros países en desarrollo.
