Abstract

The German economy will stabilize in the second half of 2019 due to strong consumer and construction activity. However, the German economy remains splintered: German industry slid into recession in 2019, and business-related service providers, too, felt the impact of the economic slowdown. While consumer-related services were less affected if at all by the weakening industrial economy, developments in wholesale trade were also affected by the weakness in manufacturing.
