Siberia in the post‐Soviet stage: Transformation of territorial structure of economic and settlement system

Abstract

The specialization and role of Siberia in the Russian economy is revealed, the problem of understating the macro‐region share in all‐Russian economic indicators by official statistics is highlighted. A quantitative assessment of the global economic and geographical position of Siberia relative to the key world markets is given. The main features of the modern territorial structure of the economy and population of the macro‐region are identified and considered. The leading trend of transformation of this structure at the post‐Soviet stage has been established: the shift of industry to peripheral (mainly to northern) regions with the intensification of resource‐raw material specialization and the formation of new territorial‐production complexes. Este artículo revela la especialización y el papel de Siberia en la economía rusa, y se destaca el problema que supone subestimar la contribución de esta macrorregión a las cifras totales de los indicadores económicos rusos, de acuerdo con las estadísticas oficiales. En el artículo se ofrece una evaluación cuantitativa de la posición económica y geográfica mundial de Siberia en relación con los principales mercados mundiales. Asimismo, se identifican y se consideran las principales características de la estructura territorial moderna de la economía y la población de esta macrorregión. Se establece la tendencia principal de transformación de esta estructura en la etapa postsoviética: el desplazamiento de la industria a las regiones periféricas (principalmente al norte) a causa de la intensificación de la especialización en ciertos recursos y materias primas y la formación de nuevas complejos territoriales de producción. ロシア経済におけるシベリアの特化と役割を明らかにし、全ロシア経済指標におけるマクロ地域のシェアが公式統計により過小評価されている問題を強調する。世界の主要な市場と比較して、シベリアの世界的な経済と地理における位置の定量的評価を行う。マクロ地域の経済と人口の近代的な地域構造の主な特徴を特定し考察した。旧ソ連後におけるこの構造の転換の主要なトレンドは、すなわち、資源/原料への特化が強化され新しい地域生産コンプレックスが形成された辺境地域(主に北部)への産業シフトとして確立された。
