Factors of Intensity of Use of Digital Platforms by the Population of the Russian Federation

Abstract

The organization of interaction between economic entities through the formation of algorithmic models makes it possible to generate positive effects both for individual users and for the national economy. It is relevant to study the factors that make it possible to intensify the use of digital platforms by the population, since an increase in the number of users leads to a growth of this sector of the economy and an increasing manifestation of the positive effects of digitalization. The purpose of the article is to identify a correlation between the indicator of the intensity of the use of digital platforms related to the commercial sector of the economy, the sector of public services and social networks, and indicators characterizing the factors of infrastructural access to the digital platform, digital competencies of the population and information security of users. The hypothesis of the study is that the intensity of the use of digital platforms by the population depends on the development of the digital infrastructure, the digital competencies of the population, and the information security of users. The research methodology is based on an index assessment of the level of digitalization of the economy; the development of this methodology is carried out by determining the connectivity of the digitalization indices of the regions of the Russian Federation and the indicator of the intensity of the use of digital platforms by the population, defined for the corresponding territory. The obtained results of the study made it possible to identify a high correlation between the indicator of the use of digital platforms of various types by the population with the factors of providing the population with access to the Internet in public places and means of transportation, the competences of the population regarding the use of the Internet for ordering goods and services via the Internet and receiving public services. The study of the factors of the intensity of the use of digital platforms by the population presented in the article makes it possible to determine the relationship between the indices of digitalization of the regions of the Russian Federation and the indicator of the intensity of use of digital platforms by the population, defined for the corresponding territory. The results obtained make it possible to contribute to the methodology of researching digital platforms and are of practical importance for the formation of programs to involve the population in the use of digital platforms in order to accelerate the digitalization of the economy.
