Singapurs rezession 1985: Resultat eines lohnpolitischen Experiments?

Abstract

Im Jahre 1985 erlebte Singapur eine kräftige Rezession, die scheinbar recht unvermittelt auftrat. Sie sorgte nicht zuletzt deshalb für Überraschung, weil Singapur neben Hongkong, Süd-Korea und Taiwan zu den Ökonomien zählt, die seit zwei Jahrzehnten weltweit am dynamischsten wachsen. Dies gilt sowohl im Hinblick auf das Bruttoinlandsprodukt als auch auf die Beschäftigung. Die Zuwachsraten dieser vier Newly industrializing Countries (NiC's) waren etwa dreimal so groß wie die des OECD-Durchschnittsl.
