Anwendungen der Grünen Gentechnik in der Landwirtschaft: Potenziale und Risiken

Abstract

Die Grüne Gentechnik - gemeint ist in der vorliegenden Studie die Anwendung molekulargenetischer Werkzeuge zur Transgenese und Genomeditierung von Pflanzen - ist einerseits gerade in Europa politisch und gesellschaftlich umstritten. Andererseits ist die Transgenese im internationalen (Agrar-)Handel eine verbreitete Realität und die Genomeditierung (gezielte Mutagenese) befindet sich technisch wie in der Anwendung in einer rasanten Entwicklung. Vor dem Hintergrund des Klimawandels und der Bevölkerungsentwicklung beschreibt diese Studie zunächst die allgemeine Ausgangslage für die Landwirtschaft und die Biodiversität insbesondere in Europa. Ausgehend von der Statistik aktueller Anwendung und Entwicklungen wird analysiert, welche Ansätze die Grüne Gentechnik bietet, den anstehenden Veränderungen der Agrar- und Lebensräume zu begegnen, und welche Risiken mit dem Einsatz der Techniken verbunden sein können. Neben einem allgemeinen Überblick zu den Themenfeldern Klimawandel, Ernährung und Biodiversität werden in ausgewählten Fallbeispielen die Techniken und Anwendungen in ihrem Bezug zu sozioökonomischen und Umwelt-Wechselwirkungen beleuchtet. Abschließend werden die regulatorischen, gesellschaftlichen und wirtschaftlichen Rahmenbedingungen in ihren Auswirkungen auf die Pflanzenbiotechnologie thematisiert.
