Die Bedeutung von Kleinst- und Kleinunternehmen für die österreichische Außenwirtschaft

Abstract

Die Studie analysiert die Exportaktivitäten von Klein- und Kleinstunternehmen (KKUs) in Österreich. KKUs exportieren seltener und weniger intensiv als größere Firmen. Es zeigt sich, dass Forschung und Entwicklung (F&E) und neue Produktionstechnologien ein entscheidender Faktor für Exporte sind: Wenn ein Unternehmen F&E betreibt, exportiert es in den allermeisten Fällen auch. Auch gibt es einige strukturelle Hindernisse für KKUs, wie etwa den Mangel an Fachkräften, die Kosten der Regulierung, den eingeschränkten Zugang zu Finanzmitteln oder mangelnde Ressourcen für strategische Projekte. Wenn es gelingt, diese Barrieren abzubauen, könnte die internationale Wettbewerbsfähigkeit österreichischer KKUs nachhaltig gestärkt und einen wichtigen Beitrag zur Diversifizierung der österreichischen Exportbasis geleistet werden.
